Cake, Batter, and Bowl


Welcome! I’m Kerstin, a foodie that lives in Boston with my incredible husband, Apolinaras, and our cute little cockatiel. I’m a postdoc by day, performing cancer research at Children’s Hospital Boston/Harvard Medical School. After a long day in the lab, my favorite way to unwind is to work out or play in the kitchen! I’ve always been a decent baker, since I grew up frequently making chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies with my mom, but I didn’t begin cooking until after I graduated from college and realized that it would be nice to survive on more than boxed mac & cheese and frozen pizza in the ‘real world’!  After mastering the basics, by working my way through my beloved Good Housekeeping and Betty Crocker cookbooks, I started using cooking as a creative outlet and even began whipping up treats for recipe contests. I started this blog in February 2009 so I could interact with other foodies and share my original recipes and culinary adventures. Thanks for visiting!
